Jazz, art, and dessert - that's what is on the menu to help raise money for Montana Shares this year during the annual "Jazz & Just Desserts," and Capital High School jazz students are again playing their parts to help with the event.

Practicing under the direction of Helena jazz musician Wilbur Rehmann, CHS jazz students are playing their music for a good cause.

Now in it's 13th year, the event will be hosted at the Holter Museum of Art.

Joy McGrath, executive director of Montana Shares, noted, "It's a great opportunity to see the exhibits and all the galleries, have some scrumptious desserts, and listen to live music at the same time."

Montana Shares is a non-profit organization that provides funding for 36 other non-profit agencies, including the Humane Society, the Lung Association, and Helena Food Share.

During this eighth year of student participation, they will be playing alongside the Rehmann Jazz Quintet.

Piano player Stephanie Quiest said, "I think jazz in particular is a great outlet for creative expression and I think it's alot of fun to be able to experiment."

Sax player Zac Paulsen commented, "You can just change up some rhythms and make it your own. That's what I like about jazz."

The Holter's current exhibit is exploration of landscape; all galleries will be open for the event.

The event begins at 7:00 pm on Thursday, March 24th, and tickets are on sale now.

They are $12 for adults and $6.00 for students.
