One of the hardest things I found when I was trying to lose my weight was trying to incorporate going out for meals and still trying to keep my weight loss on track. For me, I love eating out and I do it quite a bit - so at first it was quite a problem for me to get over. Knowing what foods to choose was really hard - especially if I hadn't given it some thought prior to arriving at the restaurant - many places have heavy rich food and if your not prepared you can find yourself digging right into one of them - and before you know it your feeling guilty because you have gone and eaten something that will probably take a week to burn off.
I have put together a list of good meal choices to have when your dining out that will still allow you to continue losing weight - they worked very well for me and they can for you too. They are
1. Always choose vegetables over chips, fries or potato wedges.
2. Always ask the waiter if any dishes come with low fat dressings
3. Always choose foods that are grilled, steamed or baked - never fried
4. Always order small servings
5. Always choose foods such as chicken, turkey or fish
6. Always drink water with your meal
7. Always choose carefully when looking at the dessert menu - choose fresh fruit if possible.
8 Always limit your alcohol intake as this contains many calories
9. Always limit your bread intake - ask for grained bread if possible
10. Always listen to your stomach - if you feel full, then stop eating - don't stuff yourself.
If you can follow the above then you will still be able to happily continue eating out - however if you neglect these simple tips you will find all your hard work will come undone and you will be back where you started. Remember you are making a major lifestyle change for the better in trying to lose weight so learning how to make the best meal choices when dining out will still allow you to have the best of everything - without having to go with out.
