Espresso Pit Stop offers up coffee, sandwiches, smoothies and desserts with 1950s charm

Sara Macho/Sun NewsEspresso Pit Stop employees Alexandra Davis, Erica Hernandez and Candace Bennett dress in 1950s style waitress uniforms. The new business opened April 18 in North Royalton.

Robert Lusetti took his love of hot rods, classic cars and all things 1950 and opened Espresso Pit Stop at 14290 State Road in North Royalton.

In a way, the site, which opened April 18, has returned to its original glory.

“It is a completely renovated old 1950s ice cream parlor,” Lusetti said.

But instead of cold treats, Espresso Pit Stop is now serving up a variety of coffees, pastries, sandwiches, smoothies and its staple, espresso.

In six months, the small vacant building was renovated to include bright pink walls, neon signs, black and white checkered flooring, a teal colored counter top, blast from the past signage and wall decor, and classic “Espresso Pit Stop Girls” wearing 1950s style waitress uniforms.

Drive-thru service is available along with inside seating.

Hot coffee drinks range from flavored lattes and cappuccinos, to chai tea, hot chocolate and traditional coffee. Flavors will change every week.

There is also a variety of cold caffeine drinks like a mocha frappe, iced ivory mocha and iced coffee. Smoothie flavors include mango, wild berry and java chip.

On the sandwich side is a tuna salad pita wrap, chicken salad, and a ham and cheese panini. Pastries range from cookies to sticky buns to muffins to brownies.

Prices range from $1.65 for a 12 ounce hot coffee, $2 for an espresso macchiato, $3.25 for an iced mocha and $2.95 for a latte.

Sandwiches start at $3.90 and desserts range in price from $1.25 to $1.85.

Espresso Pit Stop is open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday-Friday, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sundays.
