Williamston sweets Haslett 6-3, 6-3 in non-league doubleheader

WILLIAMSTON - The Hornet baseball team swept a nonleague doubleheader from Haslett, beating the Vikings 6-3 in the opener and 6-3 in the nightcap on May 5. Williamston earned a pair of league wins with a 7-1, 4-0 sweep of Lakewood on May 9.

Williamston senior Corbin Austin was the winning pitcher in the opener against Haslett. He did not walk a batter and allowed only two hits and no earned runs.

Dylan Schultz went 3-for-4 at the plate, hitting a double and scoring a run. Tyler Watters was 2-for-4 with two runs. Nic Jump had a double.

Dylan Monette was the winning pitcher in the nightcap. He struck out four Haslett batters. Jump went 3-for-4 with two runs. Watters was 2-for-3 while Austin hit a home run.

Austin was the winning pitcher in the opener against Lakewood. Jump went 3-for-4 and drove in three runs. Tyler Fortin went 3-for-3 with a double and drove in a run. Monette again was the winning pitcher in the nightcap, striking out 11. Gus Grace went 2-for-3 and drove in two runs. Schultz was 2-for- 3.

Williamston is in a three-way tie for first place in the CAAC White with Portland and Lansing Catholic, each with 4-0 league records. Williamston is 11-4 overall.
