Sweets-filled 'Family Fun Day' at Hoboken Historical Museum

The event also featured a host of activities like candy-making, and candy-inspired music from musician Alessandro 'Sandro'?Pierpaoli. "My favorite audience to sing to is kids," Alessandro, a former?university physics and chemistry teacher, said?in between?candy-inspired songs like 'Lollipop,?Lollipop.' "I used to teach, but I find that I can reach more kids on the street than I can in the classroom."

Hoboken mom Melissa Gannon brought her daughter, Fiona, 3, to the event. "We love all the events in Hoboken," she said as Fiona ate a chocolate dipped fruit cone. "We just wanted to come and participate and see what we could learn about."

Hoboken Historical Museum Educational Director Robin Westervelt said the museum's current sweets-inspired exhibit, Yum Yum, Tootsie Roll and Chocolate Bunnies on Motorcycles...A Sweet History of Hoboken, has lent itself nicely to this year's Family event. "I betcha we've had 300 people today," she said from the event. "The kids, of course, love the theme."
